Welcome to WikiPremed

WikiPremed was created to make it easier for an intelligent, motivated person anywhere in the world to become a doctor. For premedical students in the United States, there is no better learning program than the WikiPremed MCAT Course for securing the level of mastery that earns a superior MCAT score. In addition to improving the accessibility of science education, the WikiPremed MCAT Course is an important contribution to educational design. This learning program teaches the physical and biological sciences within a unified curriculum, an approach developed over many years working closely with college students in small group teaching. The WikiPremed MCAT Course consists of twenty modules. Each module contains fifteen to twenty hours of videos and assignments. The resources here can be utilized as a primary MCAT course or in combination with another course. It is often useful to begin WikiPremed several months prior to beginning a live course to set the conditions properly for full realization of the live course as a component within a more ambitious combined program.

The medical education community created the MCAT not only for the admissions process, but to give students a compelling reason to review their undergraduate coursework and get ready for medical school. Becoming a doctor is a long and difficult path. We have taken a great deal of care to make a proper guide for this challenging part of the journey, the global review of the undergraduate sciences in final preparation for medical school. There are no restricted areas on this website. You can study at WikiPremed for as long as you want.

The Main Progression

In the Main Progression of the course, we make our careful way through the physical and biological sciences topic by topic, covering the material in great detail in sequence. Some types of Main Progression assignments in the syllabus are designed to set the stage at the beginning of the topic, to get you oriented, while other assignments are to help you master the concepts and assess your progress before moving on. In watching the course videos, imagine you are sitting at the table with us. Participate in the discussion. Do not try to absorb the knowledge by osmosis. Work the problems. Take a good set of notes. Discipline will be required to adapt your life to the WikiPremed MCAT Course, but it is even more important to make the course adapt to you. Not everyone starts at the same place and not everyone has the same learning style. What's important is that you achieve the Main Progression learning goals for each topic before moving on to the next topic. The Main Progression work represents a bit more than half of the total study time in the course.

Preview, Review, and Knowledge Mapping

If there were only the Main Progression in the WikiPremed MCAT Course, the course would be like tunneling through a mountain without ever walking around it. An essential step in the development of scientific mastery is to learn the structure of the scientific knowledge-base and gain self-awareness of the knowledge as a kind of mental performance. If reviewing the physical and biological sciences were exploring a city, the Main Progression of the WikiPremed MCAT Course would be like exploring at the street level while the Preview, Review and Knowledge Mapping components of the course would be like seeing the whole city from the point of view of the tallest building. Preview, Review and Knowledge Mapping in the WikiPremed MCAT Course help you structure your knowledge base. This is accomplished in coordination with the Main Progression through an interdisciplinary spiraling curriculum. In a spiraling learning program, you are exposed to important concepts early. As the course progresses, you return to those concepts again and again, expanding on the foundation established earlier.

How is WikiPremed more advanced?

Methods which began in our small group course evolved through years of work into an extensive discipline for choreographing breakthroughs in scientific understanding. The Wikipremed MCAT Course is the first spiraling curriculum for comprehensive undergraduate science review. An example of the spiraling method is the repeated focus on electrostatic potential energy from the very beginning of the learning program. This prepares you to begin the review of chemistry having atomic theory, chemical bonding, and intermolecular force within the field of reference of physics. This isn't about making things more complicated but about giving you the ability to conceptualize chemical change in a direct, common-sense way. The course takes you from basic physics to oxidative metabolism and beyond in a unified discussion that grows more advanced by careful gradations. Although there is a definite body of required knowledge for the MCAT, the difference between scoring 12s and 8s on the science sections is the sophistication of the understanding, which comes from conceptual integration. The AAMC uses MCAT passages like probes to see if you have developed the background and intuition to interpret the scientific phenomena you will encounter in medical school. The WikiPremed MCAT Course prepares you in the most efficient possible way to demonstrate on the MCAT that you are ready for medical school.

What are the costs?

There are no restricted areas or hidden fees with the WikiPremed MCAT Course. The only costs with WikiPremed are a $25 Tuition Payment and some printed course materials. Please pay your tuition as soon as you have come to rely on WikiPremed in a significant way for your MCAT preparation. Your tuition and orders support the programs here. Although nearly all of what you need is available online, some printed course materials are still essential. You need the The ManDala PreMedical Learning System for the Preview, Review, and Knowledge Mapping assignments of the learning program. Printed copies of The WikiPremed Physics Flashcards and the The Organic Mechanisms Pocketbook are also available. For some of the work in the syllabus, you will also need the Examkrackers set or equivalent. Please order ExamKrackers at Amazon through a link on this site because it supports WikiPremed. The WikiPremed MCAT Course is an open access MCAT Course. We succeed as a business by providing the best printed learning materials for MCAT preparation and excellent customer service.

The 1st module
